A Philo is an affiliate organization of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., that contributes countless hours of community service and thousands of dollars to aid Sigma Gamma Rho's aim to enhance the quality of life within every community. Many years ago, Alumnae Chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. realized the importance of the prestige, goodwill, and cooperation of women who, for various reasons, were not members of any Greek-letter organization.  Many women were of the highest caliber, with outstanding religious, educational, civic, and social connections; women who were substantial, dependable, and exerted the energy and willingness to be active participants in helping Sigma Gamma Rho render service to humankind and improve the community.

To this end, the Sorority through its Philo Affiliate assumes the responsibility of encouraging and promoting high scholastic attainment; leadership development; individual talents; and emphasizes the value of poise and dignity.  Philo Affiliate membership is open to professional women who demonstrate high scholastic achievement and a commitment to community service.
   
History was made on November 5, 2016, when five women were inducted into the Theta Omega Sigma (TOS) Philo Affiliate; MJ Allen, Vanessa Ryland-Buntley, Angela Lyman, Roberta Sparkman, and Bonita Tenzie-Kelley. The TOS Philo Affiliate is the very first Philo Affiliate established in Area V of the Northeastern Region. On Saturday, March 7, 2020, we welcomed Larvina Blair and Cookie Waller.
